Chapter 39: Guild Formation
Johan has successfully defeated Crystal Leo and has arrived at the third layer.
“I guess Zecca and her friends aren’t here yet… I know! Let’s give them a little surprise.
Johann takes out the Crystal Leo summoner he just got and activates it.
“Summon the summoner–Crystal Leo!”
A white ice lion emerges from the geometric circle of magic. It is the same size as the one it was fighting.
“I don’t have time to just wait around, let’s see what her skills are…”
Johan navigates through the menu and checks Crystal Leo’s skills.
This snowstorm causes a [Absolute Zero] snowstorm and gives an [Freeze] effect to the attacker.
[Diamond Dust Burst] A powerful ice attack.
[Ice Token] creates three [Ice Tokens] which have the same status as itself. The AI controls them. You cannot use skills.
The skills were very powerful because they were the rewards for defeating the bosses in the same level.
“Well, absolute zero and the ice alter ego seem useful. Maybe I’ll try them out next time.”
While you’re doing this, the gate opens. Then Zecca, Renma, Kon, and Donald, who defeated Crystal Leo, appear.
“At last we’re on the third level… What?
“… Enemy?
No, it’s a summoner.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey~ It’s true that you can turn hierarchical bosses into summons~.”
No wonder you’re surprised. You’ve finally defeated a powerful enemy, and you’ve arrived at a new stage, only to be greeted by the boss monster you were fighting earlier.
“Uh-huh. I’m sorry. I just wanted to surprise you.
“You scared the shit out of me. You just shortened my life.”
“Oh, by the way, how old is Donald-han?”
I’m a sprightly 28.
“Oh, we’re the same age.”
“You’re older than I thought you’d be… Well, I’m 25 too, so we’re not that far apart.
“Am I possibly the same age as Johann? I’m so happy! Look at this game, aren’t all the girls young?”
“Yeah. Sometimes it cheers me up, but when I talk to teenagers, I can’t help but feel my age…”
“Understand~! But we’re still young! Because 28 is only 3 years old in dog years.”
“Why did you convert it to a dog’s age?”
While the adult group was getting excited, Zecca and Rengma returned from playing with Crystal Leo, which had turned into a summoner. Crystal Leo seems to have run out of MP and disappeared. It seems that Johan summoned it too soon.
“Ha-ha-ha. She’s cute, isn’t she? I’d love it if you’d call her up and let me play with her sometime.”
“Okay, Zecca, but your HP is down by about half.”
We’ve been attacked.
“Are you okay? Are you just playing around?
“I’m happy, so it’s OK!”
After the disappearance of Crystal Leo, the five of them decided to head for the city that would serve as their base in the third layer.
The third layer is a grassland area. It looks somewhat like the first layer. Zecca wondered if it was a copy and paste. Zecca suspected. Kon suddenly spoke up as they were walking along the grassland.
“Oh, by the way, did you know… The guild home is going to be unlocked next Saturday night.”
“I heard that too. Johann, you have a priority ticket to the guild home, so don’t forget to exchange it on Friday, okay?”
The [Guild Home Voucher] that Johan got at the Pirate King Raid. You can get any guild home you want for free. With this item, you can get a guild home of your choice on the day before next Saturday, when all players will be given the right to purchase a guild home.
“But we haven’t formed a guild yet.”
“What? That’s a waste of time. Just make it quick.”
“Ah! I just realized there’s exactly 5 of us right here!”
To create a guild, you need at least 5 members. And there are exactly five unaffiliated players here. Con tells you that on purpose.
“Oh, no~.”
And just by looking at Kong, Donald sees through to her true intentions.
“I’m with you. I’ve been soloing for a while now. I’ve been soloing for a while now, but I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to form a guild with you guys.
And you’re on board, Donald.
“Yeah? If you two say yes, we can form a guild with the five of us.
At first Johan was reluctant to join the guild, but then he realized that he might feel more secure with the help of Kon and Donald.
“Yes. With these five of us, we can do things we couldn’t do before… I agree.”
I… I’m with you. This group is gonna be a lot of fun.
Johann smiles when he hears their answer.
“Oh, yeah. It’s not really a requirement, but…”
Zecca raised her hand.
“What is it, Zecca? Are you sure you want to play Guilmouth?”
No, sir. We’re a guild with this many members. I don’t think we’re going to be the only five for a long time. I’m sure we’ll add more members in the future.”
Well, of course.
“Then, why don’t we make it a rule that the first five of us will discuss it?”
“Well, you’re right. It’s probably not a good idea to add whatever you want.
I’m good.
“If that’s what you want to do, Zecca-chan, that’s fine.”
“… Me too.
“Thank you. For being so good to me…”
“It’s okay. These things have to be decided in a way that everyone can understand.
After the guild has been successfully established, Johan and the others arrive at the base city [Aska City] on the third layer.
“Alara…”
“… This is terrible.”
“Are you using the same glass?”
“Oh, no.”
“What’s the matter, guys? What’s the matter with you?”
All but Johann look somewhat disappointed and let down.
“Look closely, Johann. This is the exact same shape as the city at the beginning of the first layer…”
I’m disappointed that we’re in a new town.
“What? “That’s good, it’s easy to remember.”
“That’s great, Johan! Rational thought as only a game novice can do.”
“… You just don’t have much interest in anything other than Batimon?”
The five of them head for the center of Aska City, which looks exactly like the city of beginnings inside and out. There they found a service center where they could receive quests and register with the guild.
You follow the instructions of the NPC receptionist. There, he asks who the guildmaster is. The guildmaster is Johan by unanimous vote.
“I don’t know if I’m the right person for this. I think I’d rather have the veteran Donald…”
“I can’t be Guillermas, I’m just a random guy.”
“Yes, yes. Johann-san is the Gilmouth!”
It’s going to be fun.
So, I’m the Guildmaster… I’m the guildmaster.
You must enter your guild name. Johann takes out Hinadra’s summoning stone. The guild name had been thought of in secret.
“[Dragon Chicks]. I think I want to go with [Dragon Chicks] as our guild name…”
Johan turns around anxiously.
It’s okay, right?
“I like it! I agree.”
“Gilmas is a monster of a chick, though.”
“… If that’s the name your sister gave you…”
“Thank you, guys.”
Yes. This whole encounter started with Hinadora.
That’s why I was thinking that if we were to start a guild… we’d name it that.
Johann typed [dragon chicks].
“So here we are… The Guild is formed!”
And then he hit the decision button with all his might.
