CH116: 30-layer attack by S-ranked explorers
Once again the five of us came to the 30th level of the Grand Labyrinth.
And for a while, Sophie and her friends fight each other with new weapons.
“Amazing!!! It’s so different from anything I’ve ever seen before! Shishou, thank you for giving me such an amazing gift!”
Carol looks at the black daggers in her hands, excited.
It makes me happy to know that you’re so pleased with this gift.
“Um, Mr. Orn, can I ask you one question?”
Sophie calls out to me hesitantly.
“Okay. You want to hear about the red knife?”
“Ah, yes. I thought it might have been a mistake, since there were several red knife-like objects in it, in addition to the black staff and the troupe uniform, but you’re sure it wasn’t a mistake?”
Sophie asks as a small knife emerges from the storage wand I gave her.
The knife that Sophie has made appear has a blade that is not metal, but a clear red jewel.
“Yeah. That’s Sophie’s, too. It’s just a prototype, so you’ll have to let me know how it works.”
“That’s fine, but I can’t use a knife in melee combat…”
Sophie’s shoulders slump, and she looks dejected.
“Sure, knives can be thrown, but they’re basically melee weapons. But Sophie can wield it without having to hold it in her hand, can’t she?”
“Without holding it in your hand? Oh, telekinesis!
“Yes. [With telekinesis, you don’t have to hold it in your hand or get close to your opponent. You can slash them unilaterally from a distance. That’s an advantage only Sophie has.
“It’s true that [telekinesis] can be used in that way. I was only focusing on blocking the opponent’s movement. That’s not good…”
Sophie mocks herself.
“No, I don’t think so. But I think telekinesis is an excellent ability that can be used in various situations. You shouldn’t limit yourself to one thing but explore various possibilities.
“Yes! Yes, sir!”
“As I said before, the knife is meant to be telekinetic. And there’s a trick on the knife. That trick is the prototype part, but you’ll have to see for yourself what kind of trick it has.”
“This knife is rigged…”
Sophie mutters as she stares at the knife.
He’s got something on his mind right now.
Maybe there’s more to that knife than I thought.
I’m hoping Sophie will come up with something.
After Sophie and the others had finished getting a feel for their new weapons, we returned to the entrance of the 30th layer.
“All right, then, as my apprentices requested, let’s give it our best shot. Luna, are you ready?
“Yes. Yes, that’s fine. What about coordination? Are you still going to use Akebono’s as a base?”
That’s fine. I’ll be the grantmaster and vanguard attacker, and Luna will be the healer and rear attacker. I don’t think we’ll need a defender, but if we do, it’ll depend on the situation.
Yes, sir. So, when you say you’re gonna do everything you can…
Literally. “You’re going to have to get in deep.”
“But that would mean…”
I understand Luna’s concern.
Sophie and the others have little to gain if we do our best to conquer the 30th layer.
But I decided to give it my all.
“This is the best way to show the difference between us. Well, we’ll do our best, but it’s been a while since we’ve had a party. I’m going to enjoy this mission.”
“… Okay. Then let’s show Carol and the others what an S-ranked explorer can do.”
After the meeting with Luna, they return to Sophie and the others.
Welcome back. Did you finish your meeting?
“Oh. Thanks for waiting. Okay, let’s go. You follow me, okay?
“Yes! I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be watching Master and Sister Lu’s performance with my eyes!”
It’s been about ten minutes since we started attacking the 30th layer.
We went on the shortest route ・・・・・・・・ without fighting a single battle, and we made it ninety percent of the way through.
“Hey, hey… What does this mean?”
Sophie lets out a confused squeak.
Normally I would respond, but I’m concentrating on the labyrinth right now so I won’t.
“I don’t know… But it’s obviously strange that we haven’t encountered any hexenbiests so far.”
“Hmm, does that mean you’re walking around avoiding hexenbiests?”
“No, the masters are taking the shortest route to the floor boss. It’s more like the monsters are avoiding them… But how…?”
I was listening to the conversation between the three of them and being very nervous about my surroundings when a hexenbiest was caught in my net.
I’m not sure we can avoid a fight under the circumstances.
“Contact enemy. About 30 meters in front of us. Four goblins.
“[Thunder Arrow Thunder Arrow] is that okay?”
It was the first time Luna and I had exchanged words since we started the 30th layer attack.
Up to this point, we have been able to communicate with each other by making slight gestures and eye contact, so there was no need for us to exchange words.
Yeah. Three seconds, please.
Just three seconds after my reply, Luna launches [Thunder Arrow].
Arrows of lightning shoot out from around Luna and streak straight ahead.
Even though the light-emitting ores were placed at equal intervals, it would be difficult to ascertain the enemy’s detailed position with the naked eye at a distance of thirty meters in the thirty layers, which were like the inside of a cave.
The lightning arrows are being fired with some accuracy, but they’re all going to miss.
… Then change course.
I’m going to pour magic power into the four techniques I’ve been building in the three seconds I’ve had you wait.
A gray translucent wall appears near the goblin.
Four lightning arrows change course as they touch the wall, each piercing a vital spot on an unsuspecting goblin.
I gave Luna a look to let her know that I had hit the target, and she gave me a small nod.
“Whew, we’re here.”
I took a breather when I got to the boss area.
I was able to guide all of them except for the goblin, and I was able to reach the boss area in about ten minutes.
The important thing in the labyrinth is how to avoid battles and conserve your strength.
Especially in the deeper levels, the monsters in the way become much stronger, and a powerful floor boss is waiting for you at the end.
How we were leading the hexenbiest this time, the answer is simple.
It’s a magical stone that attracts magical beasts.
The three of them were absolutely mortified to see us come this far without a proper battle.
“What about the boss fight?”
That boar can’t lose by a long shot. But if he does, I want to kill him instantly.”
The floor bosses in the 30th level are obviously weaker than the monsters that appear at the end of the lower levels and in the 92nd and 93rd levels.
We’ve got a split second to show Sophie and the others what we’re made of.
“If so, is it pattern D?”
“That’ll do. D.7.”
And while opening the door leading to the boss’s area, she activates [Rear Guard Up] on Luna.
Since Ki buffs aren’t stable yet, you buff yourself with [Quadruple] of [All Ability Increases Status].
All three of us were away.
After entering the boss area, I told Sophie and the others to leave, and they quickly retreated to the wall.
“… [Decoy Demon Light Induction].”
The boar rushes toward me, lured by the magic stone around my neck and the bluish-white magic light.
“… [Reflective Barrier Reflective Wall],[Demon Sword Unite Ortration].”
A gray translucent floor appears on the ground in the boar’s path, and you turn the Schwarzhase in your hand into a magic sword.
A wild boar that was rushing toward you touches the reflective barrier and jumps several meters above you.
“[Fire Spear Fire Javelin]!”
Luna activates several fire spears which shoot out at the boars in the air.
A spear of fire pierces the boar, causing it to explode in midair.
“… [Sanno type mont dry].”
I had already taken the boar’s top and swung down with all my might with my Schwarzhase, which had formed a great sword.
The boar that attacked me crashes to the ground with such force that it lets out a scream.
I spin around on the spot and swing down again.
The black magic power that had been converging becomes a slash and closes in on the boar.
“[Super explosive EXPLODE]!”
Luna also activated her magic at the perfect time and was able to combine her [Instantaneous Ability Super-Rise Impact] with the Heavenly Flash and [Super-Explosive Explosive Explosive] respectively.
A huge explosion and a roar from the spread of magic power echoed throughout the floor.
After landing on the ground I looked at the place where the boar had been. The smoke gradually cleared away and only the magic stone and the tusks of the boar remained on the spot.
Carol, who is always full of energy, mutters one small word.
Sophie and Log are speechless, their eyes wide.
Well, I hope I gave you a good shock.
(But still… this is…)
I mutter in my mind as I hold and open my left hand, which is raised close to my chest.
“Good night, sir… How can I help you?”
Luna comes up to me and asks me how I’m doing.
“No, it’s nothing. Good job, Luna. That last one was perfectly timed. That was great.”
“Hmph, we’ve been partying together for nearly a decade. We haven’t been able to explore the labyrinth together recently… but it’s no problem for me to keep in touch with Mr. Orn… Didn’t you use that black sword when you killed the black dragon? It looks a little different, but is that Orun-san’s new weapon?”
Luna sees the magic sword and asks a question.
(Come to think of it… Luna saw the magic sword when we were deported…)
“Well, something like that. To explain it simply, it’s a sword I made using my supernatural power, the Convergence of Magic. I’ll explain the theory in detail next time.
“[Convergence of Magic Power] to make the sword… It’s a really versatile ability.”
He was waiting for Sophie and the others to arrive, talking peacefully with Luna, but he still hadn’t recovered from the shock.
How long are you guys going to be stupid? We’re going to the 30th.
Sophie and the others come to their senses and run over to us.
The five of us continued on to the 30th level before heading home.
